Alexa Swett, Bookkeeper

Alexa started honing her bookkeeping skills at the exceptionally young age of 16. With an extremely admirable work ethic and a determination rarely seen among her peers, Alexa set out to learn not just how to be a bookkeeper, but how to do the job right.

Now, four years into her bookkeeping career, Alexa has already had the opportunity to work with multiple local businesses here in the Kelso – Longview, WA area. Her first job was working for Kelso’s Hart Radiator & Air Conditioning service as a junior bookkeeper where she began to learn the ins and outs of full charge bookkeeping for a business, while at the same time juggling a full time college schedule.

Simultaneously, Alexa was doing janitorial work for Ralph Hanson Janitorial and Bronson Property Management. Balancing multiple jobs as well as a stack of college classes is no easy feat, but Alexa enjoyed the hard work and found satisfaction in it.

Alexa thrives on anything that has to do with organization and routines, so it is safe to say that bookkeeping is a perfect fit for her structured personality. The word ‘shortcut’ is simply not part of Alexa’s vocabulary. She will never take the easy way out and will always put in the extra effort it takes to accomplish a task correctly.

Since the beginning of 2016, Alexa has been working with Abacus Bookkeeping & Consulting, LLC and has enjoyed seeing the business grow. She also works for Columbia Theatre, caring for their donor database.

Some Kelso business owners might be apprehensive about letting a bookkeeper as young as Alexa near their books. Don’t let her age fool you! Alexa may not have the decades of experience that more seasoned bookkeepers may have to draw on, but she is incredibly resourceful. She humbly recognizes that she does not know all there is to know about bookkeeping; however she loves to learn and knows how to find answers when she meets with a challenge.

Alexa obtained her Associates in Accounting from Lower Columbia College in 2017. She was awarded by being included on President’s List when she graduated from LCC, meaning she maintained an impressive GPA of 3.8-4.0 during all of her schooling. She also completed her QuickBooks Online Certification.

Since graduation, Alexa has continually tried to expand her bookkeeping knowledge and hone her expertise. In 2017 she attended a business convention in Boston for accountants called Accountex. The interesting program caught her up to speed on the latest technology offered for bookkeepers and accountants.

Besides her secular accomplishments, Alexa has countless endearing personal traits. Her integrity, trustworthiness, sense of humor, and compassion make her not only a reliable business partner, but also a good friend. From a young age, Alexa has always nurtured and cared for those around her. She loves concerts and music, but most of all she loves sharing memorable moments with good people.

From the time she completed her schooling, Alexa has dedicated herself to volunteering 70 hours each month to benefit a worldwide education program. Alexa is the kind of person you want on your team!
